The recognised standard

Level 2 – Credit Controller and Debt Collection Specialist

Overview
This specialist apprenticeship is the new Standard for credit controllers and collectors.  Developed as part of the Trailblazer Apprenticeship initiative by senior credit managers and collections specialists, with the support of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM), the Apprenticeship Standard is based on current job descriptions and covers essential knowledge, skills and behaviours.

This programme aims to develop the knowledge and skills required to be a qualified Credit Controller/Collector.  At the end of the course, apprentices have the opportunity to  achieve highly respected professional qualifications in addition to the Level 2 Apprenticeship

Framework

To achieve the Level 2 Apprenticeship in Credit Control and Collections you must undertake the following:

Take two courses

  • Credit Control/Collections
  • Business Communications & Personal skills

          Plus

End-point Assessment

  • An assignment in each of the courses undertaken (Credit Control/Collections and Business Communications & Personal skills)
  • Professional Discussion

Optional

The Institute also recommends CICM apprenticeship membership and completion of a CICM Cash Collections or Debt Collection Negotiation assignment which gives feedback on progress before end-point assessment.  This has the additional benefit of giving enough credits for the apprentice to gain the CICM Level 2 Certificate in Credit Management on completion of the apprenticeship.
