CICM confirms its role as official supporter of Credit Week
Press Release – 14 March 2017
The world’s largest recognised professional body for credit professionals, the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM) is the official supporter of the UK’s first Credit Week, which is being held from 27th to 31st March 2017 in London.
The CICM, which administers the Prompt Payment Code on behalf of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), is committed to changing the culture of late payment – which has particularly negative effects on SMEs – and driving best practice in credit management. It has produced a series of ten free webinars for both CICM and non-CICM members covering a diverse range of subjects from ‘getting customers to pay you quicker’ to ‘building your personal brand’.
Credit Week opens with a parliamentary reception hosted by Julian Knight MP at the Houses of Parliament, where Margot James, Minister for Small Business, Consumers and Corporate Responsibility, will be joining the CICM and guests.
The Week’s headline event is the Credit Summit (30th March at QEII Centre, Westminster), targeting over 800 industry professionals, which will this year feature BBC broadcaster Evan Davis to present a keynote economic overview.
The Summit will be split into six streams. Philip King, Chief Executive of the CICM, is chairing the Trade Credit stream’s morning session before moving to chair the afternoon Credit Risk stream.
“Both topics are affected by geo-political circumstances, and with increased levels of uncertainty there is bound to be tension at the heart of business finances,” Philip says. “With so many high-profile industry professionals in attendance, I am sure the streams will produce some very interesting debates and I am looking forward to chairing them both.”
A team from the CICM will be at the Credit Summit to share the importance of CICM membership and explain benefits of its offering. Attendees will also have the opportunity to feature on the Institute’s social media channels with reasons ‘why you love your job’ using the hashtag #LoveMyJob.
