CICM Wessex Branch – An Evening at the Spinnaker Tower – Wednesday 11 September 2019

We were delighted to welcome so many members and guests to our evening event at the iconic Spinnaker Tower overlooking the Solent.

We were treated to an evening of networking,  with guest speakers;  Nigel Linger giving a talk taking the audience a tour through Portsmouth’s history starting with  July 1545 in the battle of the Solent, as Henry VIII looked on from Southsea sea front the Mary Rose was sunk through to more ‘modern’ days the sending of the first convicts to Australia from Portsmouth in 1787.

This was followed by Philip King speaking reminding us that late payment continues to be a major problem for small businesses. Highlighting that as well as government initiatives such as publishing the names of those suspended from the Prompt Payment Code and allowing those that companies that have defaulted time to put their house in order. Philip also emphasised that educating small businesses to get the contract right from the start and to understand the implications of the T &C ‘s will enable small business owners to help themselves.

It was a great evening our thanks go to those who attended, Thames Valley Branch for their help and our sponsors:
