Demand soars for ICM’s Taking Control of Goods Qualification

Press Release – 22 July 2014

Demand for the newly-launched ICM Level 2 Award in Taking Control of Goods (TCG) has reached record highs, reinforcing the Institute of Credit Management’s position as ‘the recognised standard’ for learning and development.

Developed in conjunction with the High Court Enforcement Officers Association (HCEOA) in response to the Government’s implementation of the Tribunals Courts & Enforcement Act 2007 and the detailed Regulations issued in 2013 and 2014, the qualification is fully Ofqual accredited and meets the certification requirements for enforcement agents.

The qualification comprises a one-hour, multiple-choice examination that can be taken at any one of four locations across the UK. From September onwards, exams will be available monthly at Pearson Vue testing centres throughout the country.

ICM’s Director of Learning & Development, Debbie Tuckwood, says that she is delighted with the response to date: “Feedback on the format, cost and venue choice has been enormously encouraging and we are looking forward to welcoming our first candidates later this month.”

Barry Minney, Bailiff Manager and Brighton & Hove City Council, says that the ICM and HCEOA have clearly put a great deal of thought and effort into the qualification: “The big selling point for the Local Authority Civil Enforcement Forum (LACEF) members (and I have had phone calls about this) is how open and encouraging you are,” he says. “You seem to understand that we need a simple learning guide with a straight forward enforcement agent award process because obtaining a certificate is complicated enough as it is.”

The ICM is currently working with the HCEOA to develop an online learning package and practice tests to support preparation for the qualifying exam.
