ICM Ashton Court Roadshow proves resounding success
21 October 2010
The latest and penultimate stop this year for the Institute Credit Management’s (ICM) regional roadshow hit Bristol in October, and was deemed the most successful roadshow of the year. More than 70 members, non-members and local business leaders from the South West region attended the event.
ICM Chief Executive, Philip King, opened the proceedings with a presentation detailing the role of credit management, and the core services and benefits that ICM members enjoy. The two guest speakers, Brian Morgan, Credit Manager at Veolia Environmental Services and Jill Weymouth, a trainer at the ICM, made further presentations, which covered the development of teams in the workplace and technical developments within ICM training, respectively.
“The turnout was really encouraging,” Philip explains, “which just goes to show how serious businesses, now more so than ever, are taking the role of effective credit management within their companies. Both Brian and Jill emphasised the importance ICM training plays, with Brian providing a clear example to the group.”
The success of Veolia’s ICM Learning Partnership and QiCM (Quality in Credit Management) award was a key factor for Brian’s involvement: “Our team at Veolia has seen a real difference in improving workflow since the training and qualifications offered by the ICM. I wanted to give attendees a practical understanding of how working with the ICM has really benefited Veolia.”
Reflecting on the experiences she has encountered whilst running the training, Jill has been impressed by the way the technology has helped the whole process: “The ICM has made great strides with the use of technology and the learning process. We are now running very successful webinars on credit management in a nutshell for members who can’t always attend training days,” she says.
