Paul Whittaker MCICM
Chair

 

Paul is an experienced Credit Manager with extensive knowledge in a range of industries including FMCG, Packaging, Agriculture, Government Departments, Recruitment and Security. His time spent working in the UK, Scotland, Australia and Ireland has given him a wealth of experience across the Credit industry internationally.

Originally from Australia, he moved back to Ireland in 2012 where he took up the role of Credit Manager at Zeus Packaging. During his time there, he also took on the management of the Customer Service Team leading the two teams to increased and streamlined inter-department engagement.

Paul played a pivotal role in obtaining new business when Zeus moved in to the Australian market.

Now working for Valeo Foods he is managing the Credit Team and working on the same principles and standards that have led him to be a respected and trusted credit manager that doesn’t shy away from getting his hands dirty to get the job done.

Specialising in modernising, streamlining and introducing key efficiencies to departments, he is always on the look-out for new innovations to help revolutionise the Credit function.

Paul is well travelled having lived and worked in several countries and an avid Rugby League supporter. He is passionate about increasing the profile of the credit profession and strives for the credit function to be given the respect and recognition it deserves with its importance being the backbone of every strong business.

 

 

 

 

T Glyndwr Powell FCICM
Treasurer

Glyn has worked in the Credit field for over thirty five years, currently acting as Risk Director of Merchants Transaction Finance Ltd, a trade finance house targeted at smaller companies. Until recently Glyn acted asa Director and Chief Operations Officer for Trade Finance Partners Ltd, a specialist Trade finance house based in the City of London. Previously he has held appointments as Credit Manager and as Leasing and Sales Finance specialist for major corporations such as Xerox, Philips, GATX and Diageo. He has considerable experience of the management of international trade as exporter, manufacturer and reseller.

He worked in a number of major trade consultancy firms, bringing a wealth of experience in risk placement, cash generation and credit management as a sales tool to the organisation. His knowledge of commerce ensures an understanding of corporate financing priorities and how organisations can access the plethora of methods and schemes available in the market place today.

He was previously a Director and Trustee, and Honorary Treasurer, of the Institute of Export and a member of the Institute of Credit Management’s Technical Advisory Panel, a position he has held for 35 years, advising on export and international trade matters. He has written for the Credit Management Magazine on credit insurance and export issues and acted as trainer on overseas collections and export credit for the CICM. He is a Fellow of both the Institute of Credit Management and the Institute of Export and holds a Batchelor of Arts in International Credit Management from Thames Valley University. He has lectured extensively on credit management, sales aid financing and leasing, both within the UK and abroad, and has contributed to The Times, the Financial Times and Croners’ publications on credit, export and risk management. He is the co-author of Croner’s Guide to Credit Management, Tolley’s Credit Management & Collections and Gower’s Credit Management Handbook. His latest contribution was to the Institute of Directors’ book “Growing Your Business”.

Glyn is married with two children, living in Galway. His other interests include Scouting, war-gaming, reading Science Fiction and exploring the more unusual parts of the world.


Declan Flood FCICM

Education Officer

Declan is a lifetime credit professional who is passionate about sharing his knowledge and experience with anyone who is interested in finding out more. He has written hundreds of articles on the topic and provides education & training in all aspects of credit management in Ireland and beyond. He is available to help you on an individual basis to improve every aspect of your management of credit.

He is also an inspirational speaker, who gives unique insights into the untapped potential that exists within the Credit function of every company. He challenges conventional wisdom to give an entirely different view on everyday issues. Has spoken at conferences from Helsinki to South Africa and from London to Mexico and Canada. Goals are to bring 21st century thinking and tools to every company in Ireland and around the world.

As Marketing Director of CRIF Vision-net, one of Ireland’s leading credit rating agencies and business information providers, Ian brings extensive experience and knowledge of the credit market In Ireland.

Over the past 20 years Ian has helped shape the information risk services used across the credit industry through the creation of new credit solutions and business intelligence services across all facets of the Irish credit industry. Ian’s experience is across both consumer credit solutions and corporate credit ratings, focusing on ways to help credit professionals in Ireland mitigate risk of financial loss, reduce exposure to bad debt and fuel more informed decisions based on the very latest advanced decision analytics.
