Summer Heritage Walk around Spital Tongues
18:30 – 20:00
The CICM North East branch invite you to join them this month for a summer heritage walk in and around Spital Tongues, Newcastle, organised by Newcastle City Guides.
“Have you ever wondered about the history of Tyneside? How did your favourite buildings come to be? How have our public spaces changed? What was life like in days gone by? Newcastle City Guides are a group of trained and qualified volunteers working in association with Newcastle Gateshead Initiative, and their 2019 programme of Heritage Walks will take you exploring Newcastle, Gateshead and parts of North and South Tyneside, uncovering the fascinating history and hidden stories of the area.”
We shall visit a small village tucked away where coal mining, furniture making, brewing and a lunatic asylum sat cheek by jowl with upper class housing.
The walk should last no more than two hours.
Meet and finish at the main entrance to Exhibition Park, Claremont Road, situated at the roundabout on Claremont Road/Park Terrace/Queen Victoria Rd Newcastle. Near the RVI Hospital and behind Newcastle University
Please register your interest (with numbers) below by Wednesday 21 August 2019. This event is Free of charge and funded by the North East branch.
