Since the beginning, just before the breakout of the Second World War, through to the pandemic and riding the turbulent tides of the modern economy; the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM) has remained a pillar of solidarity and knowledge for the Credit Management and Collections profession.  

As we raise a glass to 85 years of unwavering dedication, we not only celebrate the rich history of the CICM but also look forward to the future. 

Established in 1939 

Since 1939, the CICM has been a driving force shaping the landscape of credit management. We are a professional body who are committed to setting the gold standard through exceptional membership, training, and qualifications which have empowered thousands of professionals to excel. 

Credit Management is a profession that many say they have “fallen into”, yet the CICM has continued to champion and represent the professionals that ‘fall’ into it and those who choose this fabulous career as it has become a clearer option over the years, supporting all to be the best.  

Continuing to adapt 

Just like Credit Professionals, it has been important for the CICM to continually evolve. From the introduction of pioneering qualifications like the Diploma in Credit Management to embracing digital learning platforms, the Institute has consistently adapted and thrived, ensuring its members remain at the forefront of industry best practices.
