Sheffield and District
Welcome to the Sheffield and District Branch. Click here to view committee details.
My name is Jamie Thornton, this is my first term as Chair of Sheffield & District Branch 2022/23. I have worked within various credit management roles for almost a decade, more recently undertaking roles in a senior capacity, specialising in ever-changing environments, and improving business’ working capital cycle.
I am still an active studier with CICM and thus also undertake the role of Learning Liaison Officer with the Branch, putting me in a pertinent position to guide those considering a career, or enhancing their current career in credit through academics. The Branch have forged links with our local University and attended careers events throughout 2021 to offer our guidance to prospective students and will continue to engage as such throughout 2022.
While being novel to the committee, having joined in 2021, I am hopeful that I can bring fresh ideas to the branch network in what are incredibly unpredictable times. Although we are champing at the bit to revel in more face-to-face events and engagements this current year, we appreciate that members are busy and would benefit from the time saved travelling to events (and the ever-changing guidelines!), so we will aim to provide the best quality free to attend events, both social and educational, undertaking a hybrid approach.
I first started attending branch events in 2019 and found the events not only enjoyable and insightful but found that this allowed me to grow my professional network with like-minded peers and increased my professional development. The current committee is diverse with a wealth of experience across different sectors, we would be delighted to share our experiences with you. If you would like to be involved and reap the benefits that I have so far, please give me a call and get involved.
The committee would like to thank all sponsors, guest speakers and members for their continued support of the branch and its events in 2021 and look forward to meeting you again and both welcoming new members and promoting credit as a profession across the region in 2022.
Best
